XP is the leading French metal
detector manufacturer and a major metal detector brand
recognised among serious metal detectorists. From the
first moment you pick up an XP detector, you will find
it easy to handle and use. You will notice that these
detectors do not have a flashy LCD displays or meters
- their modest appearance actually disguises some of the
most advanced ultraquick microprocessor-driven signals-analysis
circuitry, providing an increased sensitivity and better
rejection of unwanted targets. XP's philosophy is that
the ear provides greater power of analysis, and that LCD
displays cannot respond in real time and do not capture
weak signals that are too brief or too close to other
signals. If you talk to some of the most experienced metal
detectorists, you will find they support this view, and
probably use an XP metal detector themselves.

Taking Metal detecting to the next level: your first
outing will probably be your back garden, a good place to
start and often you will be surprised what has been lost
there. As you move further afield either locally, or if
you take your metal detector on hoiliday, your interest
is likely to increase further as you discover real historic
objects, whose age and even origninal purpose may not be
immediately evident. Taking metal detecting to the next
level provides a great opportunity to research local history
- this can be great fun and very rewarding if you go about
it the right way. First stop is the local library to find
old maps and documents relating to the area you are detecting.
When you compare these old maps with modern maps you will
find many clues to abandoned buildings, forgotten villages
and re-routed roads many of which have many lost or even
discarded objects just waiting to be found. Old photo's of the beach or old post cards, will show you where the people of that era sat on the beach, also it will show you where the bathing machines went down to the waters edge. |
